We, the members of Filipinos for Life, express our dismay at the recent decision of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) to legalize same-sex “marriage”. We believe that SCOTUS acted outside the bounds of its authority in redefining the meaning of an institution which has been understood, from the beginning of human civilization, as the union between a man and a woman. This lamentable decision, which has no historical, traditional, cultural, or natural foundations, is based on an irrational sentimentality and a misplaced sense of compassion that fails to consider the future of the biological family, whose nature stems from the complementarity between man and woman. This radical departure from natural law introduces other forms of relationships, could deprive children of their right to their biological mother and father, and will ultimately be detrimental to the stability of economy and society.
